A clash broke out today between the Congress and BJP workers in front of the BJP State office.
Tensions flared after BJP workers confronted Youth Congress leaders who arrived to lay siege to the BJP office in protest against remarks made by BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi.
Youth Congress activists allegedly pelted stones at the BJP office, prompting BJP workers to emerge with sticks, leading to a scuffle.
A BJP Dalit Morcha worker sustained head injuries after some of the stones thrown landed inside the office. Police rushed to the scene and transported the injured worker to a hospital. Heavy security has since been deployed at the BJP office.
The BJP, however, blamed the attack on police inaction.
The incident follows controversial remarks made by senior BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri against Priyanka Gandhi - he had said that he would make all the roads in Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks - which prompted the Congress to call for a blockade of the BJP office.
