The war between the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Standing Committee members and the commissioner reignited on Wednesday with the members baying for commissioner Dr. Sameer Sharma's blood.
The commissioner, after getting clearance from the Ministry Of Municipal Administration that it was not incumbent for him to attend the Standing Committee meetings, has chosen to stay away from the meetings.
Dr. Sharma's absence has not been taken well by the Standing Committee members who, like earlier instances, targetted him for allegedly disregarding them.
The Standing Committee members on Wednesday got vexed after not getting satisfactory replies from the Additional Commissioners on the progress of work and demanded that Dr. Sharma file a report on the follow up action on the earlier resolutions.
The members had earlier sought a few reports from the Additional Commissioners who promptly stated that Dr. Sharma was responsible for such reports.
Apart from the attempt to corner Dr. Sharma, the Standing Committee members passed a resolution to strictly implement the ban on plastic bags in 14 major parks within the corporation limits from November 14th, and then enforce the ban in all parks from January 1st, 2011.
The members also gave the nod to the proposal for construction of an RCC culvert on the major nala connecting Mohammednagar and Akbarnagar in Eidi Bazaar Ward, Division III at the cost of over Rs. 45 lakh.
The general budget for the next year was also submitted towards the end of the meeting.
