Train services in the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul division were affected for the second straight day as the landslides due to incessant rains damaged railway tracks at the Borra Caves station.
According to East Coast Railway sources, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger was stopped at Sivalingapuram station, as boulders and mud had slid on to the tracks due to the landslide, making the passage of trains unsafe.
Relief and rescue operation teams have been pressed into service from Visakhapatnam Railway Division.
The rescue officials said the train services would be restored after clearing the track of the boulders and earth which had slid on to them.
Officials said it will take at least 2 days to restore normalcy on the route, as rains were hampering the restoration operations.
Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam district has been experiencing heavy rains since Saturday due to the north-eastern monsoon.
The incessant rains have disrupted train services in the Chennai-Hyderabad division, as flood waters have submerged tracks at Sanampudi in Singarayakonda mandal in Prakasam district.
According to the South Central Railway sources, the Hyderabad-bound Charminar Express and Tamil Nadu Express were running behind schedule as flood water overflowed due to incessant rains in the district.
The trains would be allowed to run on this section after flood water recedes, the officials said.
