CM Wants Centre To Help Build New Courts

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced that his government has sanctioned 84 new subordinate courts, and converted 36 fast track courts into permanent courts.
Adressing a joint conference of Chief Ministers of states and Union Territories, and Chief Justices of the High Courts, at Vigyan Bhavan here, he said that 34 new courts, including CBI courts, additional district judge courts, and special mobile courts, have also been established in the state. With this sanction, the overall strength of the judicial establishment in the state has increased by nearly 18%, which is unprecedented in the state, he said, adding that 55 additional posts have also been sanctioned for the purpose of strengthening the High Court establishment.
The Chief Minister has requested the Centre to provide for the infrastructure for the newly sanctioned courts, to the tune of 100%, and for about 50% of the recurring expenditure. He said that the state government has been extending support for the strengthening of infrastructure for the judicial administration. "The government has granted sanction for 40 infrastructure-related works in 2012-13. Of these, 25 are court buildings, 6 are court-cum-residential, and 9 are residential. A budget of Rs. 184 crore has been released towards these infrastructure works during last financial year. Of this, Rs. 63 crore is from the Central share," he said. (INN)
