CM Releases Funds For Guntur Reservoir
Minister Kasu Krishna Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for releasing Rs. 70 crores for the construction of a reservoir between Nekarikallu and Chejerla in Guntur district.
Minister for Cooperation Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy thanked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for releasing Rs. 70 Crores for the construction of a balancing reservoir between Nekarikallu and Chejerla in Kunkalagunta village of Guntur district, and naming it as Sri Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Sagar.
It may be recalled that the minister and his son Mahesh Reddy requested the Chief Minister to sanction the amount for the benefit of several villages and farmers. The reservoir between Nekarikallu and Chejerla, Kunkalagunta villages on right canal of 80 to 85 kms, costing about Rs. 70 crores, will store 1.5 tmc of water, and can supply drinking water on gravity basis to the people living in Narsaraopet town, and in 63 villages of Nekarikallu, Narsaraopet and Rompicherla mandals in Guntur district.
The most important aspect of this reservoir is that the water stored in this reservoir will be sufficient to serve the drinking needs of the people for a year without any problems, even during drought. Stage one clearance has been given for preparing the detailed investigation and estimates. The balancing reservoir has been named as Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Sagar in honour of the services rendered by former Chief Minister K Brahmananda Reddy in the construction of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
