Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was furious at the incidents of burning of free Bathukamma saris at some places in the state on Monday.

The Chief Minister is said to have enquired about the provocative incidents at Chalgal in Jagtial and Sattupally in Khammam, and some petty incidents at a few places in Hyderabad. He sought to know the facts behind the incidents, protests and fighting among women.

Textiles and IT Minister K T Rama Rao informed the CM that the incidents were orchestrated by the Congress and Telangana Telugu Desam Party leaders. The CM then directed the district Collectors concerned to submit reports on any unlawful incidents and file cases against those who resorted to burning the saris and the leaders behind such "vandalism".

He also apparently expressed his displeasure over the way the opposition leaders used the social media to blame the state government on the sari distribution initiative, and reportedly expressed serious concern over some TV channels frequently airing the scenes of the burning of the saris and the fighting among the womenfolk.
