BRS MLA and former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today asked why Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had not given any explanation even after the daughter of a sitting State minister, Konda Surekha, made allegations against him.
Addressing the media at the BRS party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, along with the party's women leaders, she said that the Chief Minister had the responsibility to clarify his stance on the issue.
Sabitha Reddy alleged that if someone close to the Chief Minister was involved in the alleged settlement, it implied that Revanth Reddy too might have had a role in it. She demanded that the police record the statement of the cement company director who was allegedly threatened and make it public.
She also asked why the accused Sumanth was found at Surekha's residence and why he was given shelter. "Shouldn't the police act if the minister transported the accused in her car?" she asked, and demanded to know what exactly transpired in the matter and where the settlement took place.
Sabitha Reddy claimed that during former CM K Chandrashekar Rao's tenure all communities witnessed development, but under the Congress government anarchy prevailed in the State, the Sumanth issue being the latest example. She also cited incidents where gun threats were reportedly made near the Chief Minister's residence.
The former minister also said that there was still no clarity on whether injustice was done to a woman contestant at the Miss World competition. She also alleged that cases had been filed against women journalists in the Chief Minister's own constituency, and that Revanth Reddy had insulted women MLAs on the floor of the Assembly.
She also condemned the recent inappropriate comments made by a State minister against their party's Jubilee Hills candidate Maganti Sunitha, calling them outrageous and unfortunate.
