Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Monday, expressed grief over the death of former State Election Commissioner and senior IAS officer A V S Reddy.
The Chief Minister, in a statement, described A V S Reddy as one of the most efficient and upright of senior IAS officers, who served in many capacities in the state and at the Centre.
He recalled Reddy's services as State Election Commissioner, Principal Secretary of various departments including Revenue and Panchayat Raj, Director General of the National Institute Of Rural Development, and Secretary to the Department of Tribal Affairs (Government of India).
Kiran Kumar Reddy also recalled his services as Collector of Krishna District, when he handled the rescue and relief operations during the devastating Diviseema Cyclone in 1977 "most efficiently".
"His outstanding work then won accolades from the people, he said."
He said that A V S Reddy was instrumental in establishing the Rural Technology Park in the NIRD campus. He also acknowledged the fact that he had introduced the M. Tech program in Rural Development in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
The Chief Minister also recalled A V S Reddy's services in the Indian Army.
He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. (INN)
