In-Charge of Party Affairs in Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily, accompanied by Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Monday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and briefed her on the fallout of PCC secretary Ambati Rambabu's suspension from the party.
According to informed sources, Rosaiah is believed to have briefed Sonia over the strong reaction by MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to the suspension of his staunch ally.
Jaganmohan Reddy had hinted that there was more to Rambabu's suspension than meets the eye, by saying that, "everybody knows the things that are happening".
Rambabu's suspension is widely believed to be a hint to Jagan that the high command will not tolerate anybody defying its directives.
Jagan is currently in East Godavari district as part of his Odarpu Yatra. He had undertaken the yatra despite the high command expressing its reservations over it.
Ambati had burst out at Rosaiah for refusing to allow Congress Legislators from joining the Odarpu Yatra, and it was this outburst which ultimately led to his suspension.
The official reason for Monday's meeting was the preparedness of the Congress party's state unit for the forthcoming organisational elections.
