Founder president of Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy, on Wednesday, demanded that all political parties, irrespective of affiliations, make their stand on the formation of a Rayalaseema state clear.
Talking to media persons at the Film Nagar Club at Jubilee Hills, he asked all parties, including the TDP and the YSRCP, to write a letter to the Centre immediately, making their stand on the statehood issue clear.
Reiterating that he was opposed to the bifurcation of the state, he said that if AP must indeed be divided, the government can only trifurcate the state by forming a coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema. He said that the Rayalaseema region would receive justice only through statehood.
Stating that the people of Rayalaseema are "not ready to be cheated once again", Byreddy said that the intent of his demand was not to scuttle the Telangana agitation.
He accused a section of leaders for moving strategically to affect the interests of the Rayalaseema region. Byreddy also said that he would stage a Maha Deeksha in Kurnool from 4-7 August.
Byreddy said that the 4-day deeksha is aimed at creating awareness among the people over the Rayalaseema demand, and the injustice that would be meted out to the region in the event of a bifurcation of the state.
Byreddy said that he was ready to submit his resignation from the TDP and from his MLA post over the Rayalaseema demand. (INN)
