Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi chairman Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday, rejected the proposal of a separate "Rayala-Telangana" state (that combines the regions of Telangana and Rayalaseema).
Talking to reporters after launching his 52-hour fast at Indira Park, Byreddy said that the formation of Rayala-Telangana would completely destroy the identity and existence of the Rayalaseema region. He slammed the leaders of all the political parties from the region for their silence over this proposal.
Byreddy said that the region remains backward even though it produced several big leaders.
He also criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy, for "betraying" the region.
He warned the Centre of dire consequences if it divides the Rayalaseema region. (INN)
