Noted civil rights activist and senior counsel Bojja Tarakam passed away at the age of 77 on Saturday after a brief illness.
Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana ministers T Harish Rao, Kadiam Srihari and Nayani Narasimha Reddy, deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, former deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah, Telangana Congress leaders Mallu Ravi and K Mahesh, and several others visited the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram where Tarakam's mortal remains rest, and recalled their associations with the late activist.
Delivering a eulogy, the Telangana Home Minister described the demise of Tarakam as extremely sad.
"He was a lawyer and an activist devoted to the safeguarding the rights of the people," he said.
Professor Kodandaram, who also attending the occasion, said that Tarakam had a special place for the destitute and the oppressed.
YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, too, visited the venue and paid his tributes. He conveyed his sympathies to Tarakam's kin.
Party leaders Partha Sarathi and Vishwaroop, and Sakshi editorial director K Ramachandra Murthy also paid their tributes.
The family members of the late lawyer retained his body at the venue till 3 pm, and later shifted it to Maha Prasthanam (Film Nagar), where his last rites were peformed by his son and Hyderabad district Collector Rahul Bojja.
