A Chinese national who was wanted by the Gujarat police in a gambling case was arrested at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Saturday.
The accused, Mo Wen Qiang (22), had landed in Hyderabad on Saturday night, by Silk Airlines flight no. MI 478, China via Singapore. On being questioned, Mo Wen Qiang said that he knew nothing, and that he had flown to Hyderabad on a business visit to Rajahmundry.
The immigration officials at the airport found that a Look Out Notice (LON) against Mo Wen Qiang was pending, and took him into custody. The Gujarat police had sent a LON against him to all airports in India, in a gambling case in September this year.
The immigration officials handed the Chinese national over to the Hyderabad police, who produced him before a magistrate and sought permission to retain the accused in their cutody until the Gujarat police arrives.
"The Gujarat police were intimated about the same, and are expected to arrive on Sunday", said the police.
