Around 2,000 devotees participated in the special prayers.
The temple conducted the prayers to ward off the fast-spreading virus whose outbreak happened in China and which is taking a toll on the whole world.
The devotees offered special prayers for India remain safe from the virus which has killed hundreds and infected nearly 20,000 globally.
The Apamarjana Stotram is a prayer addressed to the various forms of Vishnu as well as the Sudarsana Chakra to clean our bodies and minds of various sicknesses.
The ritual was performed for 45 minutes, and later holy water was sprinkled upon the devotees after the reciting of the glory of Sudarsana, the disc weapon of Lord Balaji.
