Fulfilling an election promise, the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is all set to restart the Anna canteens.
The canteens will start functioning from August 15 at different places in the State.
In the first phase, 100 Anna canteens will be set up across the State. The arrangements have already been completed.
On August 15, CM Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate an Anna canteen in Gudivada of Krishna district. Naidu originally wanted to start a canteen in Visakhapatnam district. However the code for local body MLC elections is in place there, and so he will launch the scheme by inaugurating the canteen in Gudivada.
The menu for the food served at the canteens will vary. Breakfast will see idli, puri, upma or pongal (two items per day). White rice, curry, dal or sambar, curd and chutney will be served as part of lunch and dinner.
