Recalling the 2003 Alipiri incident where he had a miracle escape from a Naxalite attack suffering just minor injuries, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that it was Lord Venkateswara who gave him a second birth after the incident.
Participating in the Independence Day celebrations at Tirupati on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that Tirupati was his birthplace, and that the first time that he won an Assembly election was from there. He said that he was fortunate that he was celebrating Independence Day in the temple town.
The Chief Minister promised that he would develop Chittoor (the district that Tirupati is located in) through early completion of the Handriniva, Galeru-Nagari and Somasila-Swarnamukhi irrigation projects, and vowed to crush the smuggling activities in the district, famous for its red sanders wood. He added however that there would be no regional discrepancies, and that all districts would be developed with equally.
