Naidu Starts 1,600 MW Krishnapatnam Power Project
The Andhra Pradesh CM commissioned a 2 x 800 MW electricity project constructed by the AP Genco at Nelatoor near Krishnapatnam in the Nellore district.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today dedicated to the nation a 2 x 800 MW electricity project constructed by the AP Genco at Nelatoor near Krishnapatnam in the Nellore district, in the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station.
The AP CM also laid the foundation for a third unit of 800 MW.
Four union ministers including M Venkaiah Naidu, AP cabinet ministers and others attended the public meeting.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized that electricity was important for development. He said that after State's bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh could overcome the deficit of 22.5 MU of power, with the help of the Centre.
The Chief Minister assured that there would be no power shortage or disruption in power supply in future, and that every household in the State would be provided with an electricity connection.
Emphasizing the importance of IT, the Chief Minister said that every house would also be provided with a fibre-optic cable connection by the end of July this year.
The Chief Minister also stated that the government had taken a decision to supply sand free of cost.
Every paise being spent by the government should reach the people, and the government was striving to provide better living standards to the poor, Naidu asseverated. The government was able to curb irregularities in the supply of essential commodities, and was fulfilling its election promises one by one, he said.
Union Minister Javadekar, speaking on the occasion, said that all the forest and environmental clearances needed for construction of Andhra Pradesh's new capital Amaravathi would be granted within a month.
"Whatever be the procedural issues, we will grant all environmental and forest-related clearances for the new (state) capital in a month from now," he said.
