Telugu Desam Party politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday stated that Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijayamma sought a CBI probe against their party president N Chandrababu Naidu only to tarnish his image politically.
Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the Congress has lodged 26 petitions in court since 1998 against Naidu, and that it has repeatedly accused him of misusing power.
However, nothing has been proved against him in court, he pointed out.
He said that the TDP would take up the issue before the people's court. The party would also explore legal options after consulting legal experts, he said.
"The TDP will take all steps legally to defend Chandrababu Naidu on the issue, and will take a final decision on how to proceed in the case, within a few days," Yanamala said.
He ruled out the possibilities of the CBI filing an FIR soon. He said that as a lawyer he thought the FIR would come only after the preliminary enquiry is completed.
The TPD leader alleged that the Congress and the YSR Congress Party have resorted to mudslinging only with an intention to tarnish Naidu's image.
Senior leaders Kadiam Srihari, Motkupalli Narsimhulu, Somireddy Chandramohan also spoke to the media. They said that Naidu would prove his innocence and come out clean from the allegations.
They appealed to people to understand the political dramas being enacted by the Congress and the YSR Congress Party. (INN)
