Former chief minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu today accused Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of making the state debt-ridden.
Speaking to the media, Naidu said that the governments in the 66 years until 2019 cumulatively took Rs. 3.14 lakh crore in loans, and that the Jagan government had single-handedly increased the borrowing from Rs. 3.14 lakh crore to Rs. 7 lakh crore in its three-year rule.
He also alleged that the Jagan government had destroyed the Rs. 2 lakh crore-worth state capital Amaravathi.
Claiming that the treasury of the state had turned empty, Naidu said that Jagan was now resorting to selling all the public properties too.
"The population of the state is five crores now. So every person in the state has about Rs. 5 lakh debt on their head. And public properties like district Collectorates and residential schools are also being mortgaged by the state government now. The state government is also forcibly collecting taxes from the the people," Naidu claimed.
He demanded that the CM release a white paper on the economic status of the state.
He also alleged that the Chief Minister had destroyed all constitutional institutions, and appealed to the people to rise and stop the atrocities being committed by the ruling party.
