In a significant development concerning TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh's citizenship row, the Union Home Ministry on Monday furnished a document before the High Court stating that Ramesh had not relinquished his German citizenship till date, and had even traveled to Germany in December 2019.
The High Court opined that prima facie everything was against the MLA, and directed him to file an affidavit on the new information and posted the matter to February 24 for further hearing.
The court passed the order while dealing with the petition filed by Ramesh urging the HC to set aside the orders issued by the Union Home Ministry declaring him as not a citizen of India.
The ministry had also stated in its orders that Ramesh had obtained Indian citizenship in a fraudulent manner by submitting fictitious and false documents to it.
