The Supreme Court, on Friday, ordered a CBI probe on Andhra Pradesh DGP Dinesh Redddy, in response to a petition filed by IPS officer Umesh kumar.
Umesh Kumar had filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking an investigation into the properties and assets acquired by Dinesh Reddy and his wife Kamala Reddy and their relatives.
The war between Dinesh Reddy and Umesh Kumar has been going on, with a battle of allegations and counter-allegations, ever since Dinesh Reddy was appointed DGP.
It might be mentioned here that when the vacancy for the post of DGP in Andhra Pradesh came up, both Umesh Kumar, who was then serving as the state's Home Secretary, and Dinesh Reddy vied with each other to secure the top job. However, Umesh Kumar missed the bus, with the state government appointing Dinesh Reddy as the new DGP of the state.
Umesh Kumar had also filed a petition in the Court, seeking directions against the probing of forgery allegations leveled against him by Dinesh Reddy.
The Supreme Court, in its direction today, also said that any objections of both the IPS officers can be resolved in the trial court. (INN)
