Case Filed On Kavuri For Assaulting Forest Ranger
According to the complainant, Congress MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao assaulted him when the former tried to stop Kavuri and his followers from constructing a road through Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary.
Forest Department officials of Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary, Krishna District, have filed a case against Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao for allegedly having roughed up a forest range official.
According to the officers, Kavuri, on Sunday, along with TDP MLA Jaimangalam Venkata Raman and several other followers, many of whom were reportedly inebriated, went into the sanctuary with tractors to "strengthen" the road connecting the villages of Atapaka and Komatilanka, when, according to Forest Department records, no such road exists, or, according to rules, could be constructed.
The "road" in question, sources say, is actually a bund that was built by the Wildlife Division, which the villagers were damaging by using two-wheelers on.
When stopped from going ahead with the construction, Kavuri allegedly manhandled forest ranger Satyanarayana.
Cases have been filed against Kavuri and his followers at the Kaikaluru police station under the Wildlife Protection Act, and also for assault.
