Telangana Congress party affairs in-charge R C Kuntia said that in-charges could not do miracles in the elections, and that only the local leadership could.
In a chitchat, Kuntia said that the present Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) team had been working perfectly.
"I came here only as a Congress party activist and not as a leader. I will tour all 560 mandals in Telangana within a specified time limit. I will then chalk out an action plan to bring the Congress back to power in the 2019 elections. That is the assignment given to me by the high command. We will organize Rahul Sandesh Yatras in every constituency and at the mandal level, and present a charge-sheet against the government to the people," he said.
There was no truth to the impression that he was just a temporary in-charge. "AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi sent me here as a full-fledged in-charge," he said.
He stated that the youth would get priority in all committees and allotment of tickets. "It is Rahul's idea," he said. "I also have no power to decide the Chief Ministerial candidate. And there is no tradition in the Congress of deciding the Chief Ministerial candidate before the elections - we will go to the elections under the leadership of N Uttam Kumar Reddy, K Jana Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka and Shabbir Ali."
Stating that the people of Telangana were under the impression that former Chief Ministers YSR and Kiran Kumar Reddy were not in favour of the creation of a separate Telangana state and had hence voted the TRS to power, he said that the point had to be firmly driven across that AICC president Sonia Gandhi had accorded statehood to Telangana bravely sticking to her original assurance in 2012.
The Congress was the only alternative party to the TRS in Telangana, he asserted.
