In the wake of the uproar over the sensational "call money" racket, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to order an inquiry into the entire issue by a retired judge of the High Court.
After a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu informed the media of this decision.
Also, Vijayawada Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang, who was to go on leave from December 17, has cancelled his leave due to the intensity and seriousness of the scam allegedly involving the leaders of various political partiers.
Sawang said that he had written a letter to the DGP urging him to cancel his leave.
The Opposition Parties had been alleging that the officer was being sent on leave in order to protect TDP leaders allegedly involved in the scam.
Speaking to the media at Vijayawada, Sawang said that so far 75 persons had been arrested in the case and subjected to questioning.
Stern action would be taken against those who threatened the borrowers, he added.
