Telangana State Planning Board Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not disclosing the specifics of the One Nation, One Election proposal.
He also questioned the Prime Minister on conducting a special session of Parliament without communicating the agenda to the opposition parties.
Speaking to a news channel, Kumar said that the strategy and intention behind holding the special session was not known even to union ministers except Modi, and that there was utter confusion among the political parties.
The BRS leader's statement comes after the union government set up a high-level committee headed by former president Ram Nath Kovind to explore the possibility of holding simultaneous elections.
The BRS leader pointed out that the eight-member committee did not have even one member from South India, and said that that was against the federal spirit.
"Narendra Modi, who has been silent on the issue for ten years after taking charge as Prime Minister, has now suddenly has brought it to the fore. His move makes it look like the matter has been brought up according to the plan and a hidden agenda," the BRS leader said.
