Many prominent BRS leaders today filed a formal complaint against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Petbasheerabad police station in Hyderabad, alleging that the CM had made inflammatory and derogatory remarks against K Chandrashekar Rao, the BRS president and the first Chief Minister of Telangana, during a recent event at Ravindra Bharathi.
The complaint was lodged by Medchal district BRS president and MLC Shambipur Raju along with Qutbullapur MLA Vivekanand Goud and Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy.
The MLAs claimed that during the distribution of appointment orders on March 12, Revanth Reddy had made a highly objectionable remark about KCR, saying, "From stature to stretcher and then from stretcher to mortuary tomorrow morning he will go."
The BRS leaders contended that such a statement was derogatory, crossing the line of political discourse, and had the potential to incite violence and hatred between political parties, particularly affecting BRS workers and supporters.
They also said that the Chief Minister's language was not only disrespectful but also dangerously divisive, and argued that such inflammatory language could incite both political and communal unrest, leading to an escalation of conflict between supporters of the two parties, and disturbing the peace, harmony and stability of Telangana.
They urged the police to take swift action against these statements to prevent such rhetoric from becoming normalised in public debate.
For the unversed, this is not the first time BRS leaders have taken action against Revanth Reddy's remarks. In April 2024, the BRS filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India and the Telangana DGP against Reddy for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by making unverified allegations against KCR during a public meeting at Thukkuguda.
Then, BRS youth leaders had filed a complaint at the Mirchowk police station in November 2024 alleging that the CM had threatened KCR with "death by bulldozer" during a public rally.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Chief Minister's office regarding the complaint.
