BRS MLAs today expressed their anger over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's remarks against their party MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy.
The CM, seemingly referring to BRS MLAs Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, told K T Rama Rao not to believe some leaders who had joined his BRS from other parties, as they had a habit of cheating the leaders of their parties.
The BRS MLAs swiftly rushed into the Speaker's podium and staged a protest demanding an immediate apology from Revanth Reddy, and that Sabitha Indra Reddy be given an opportunity to speak. They sloganeered that the Congress government's arrogance needed to be destroyed.
Sunitha Lakshma Reddy said that Sabitha Indra Reddy was insulted in the Assembly, and that the words of the CM and the Deputy CM had hurt the women of the entire State. She demanded an apology from the CM and the Deputy CM for their "mistake".
"He spoke in the Assembly in a way that disrespected the women of the State. We thought we would be given the opportunity to speak but our voices were suppressed by our not being given the mic. Those who say they have switched parties should think about which party they came from. Wasn't it the Congress leaders who sent me, Sabitha and D K Aruna out of their party?" she asked. She alleged that there was no respect for women leaders in the Congress.
AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi intervened and urged the Speaker to give an opportunity to Sabitha Indra Reddy to speak as she was named in the House. However, the Speaker did not give an opportunity to Sabitha to speak.
