The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has decided to extend its support to the All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the upcoming biennial MLC election to the Hyderabad local bodies' constituency.
BRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today took a decision in this regard after the AIMIM sought support from the ruling party for its candidate.
The biennial election for the Hyderabad local bodies' constituency along with the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers' constituency is scheduled to be held on March 13.
Meanwhile, the AIMIM announced Mirza Rahmath Baig as its candidate for the Hyderabad local bodies' constituency election.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi made the announcement on Twitter today.
As per the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is February 23, the scrutiny will be conducted on February 24, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 27, the election will be held on March 13, and the counting of votes will be on March 16.
