TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud today accused both the BRS and the BJP of hindering the State's development by consistently undermining the Congress government.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud alleged that the BRS and the BJP were collaborating through an unspoken agreement to tarnish the reputation of the Congress government, and that both the parties engaged in destructive politics, with the BJP seeking votes based on religion and the BRS spreading misinformation.
He specifically criticized BJP Telangana State president and Union minister Kishan Reddy, labelling him an obstacle to Telangana's advancement.
He also accused the Central government of delaying the second phase of the Metro expansion and the Metro Rejuvenation project.
The Congress leader also spoke of the BJP's "opposition to reservations" for backward classes, citing an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court against these reservations, and claimed that the BJP's anti-reservation stance was clear from the fact that the BJP-led Central government had not conducted a census of backward classes. He challenged Kishan Reddy to advocate for a nationwide survey if the latter genuinely cared about backward classes.
Goud said that political rivalries should be set aside post-elections to prioritise the State's progress, and called for unity among all political parties to fight for Telangana's rightful share of Central funds. He urged BJP and BRS leaders to join the Congress in a democratic movement to secure the State's interests, setting aside political differences for the greater good.
He also claimed that the Congress was committed to the backward classes, and claimed that a BC leader would become the Chief Minister of Telangana in the future.
He added that Rahul Gandhi's support for a caste census showed the party's dedication to BC reservations, political representation and social justice.
This is not the first time that Goud has criticised the BJP and the BRS. In February, he had accused the BJP government of discriminating against Telangana in the Union budget, saying that the State contributed nearly Rs 40,000 crore through GST but did not receive commensurate allocations.
