Calling on people's representatives, officials and the general public to participate in the Racchabanda program being launched with much fanfare by the state government from January 24, former CM K Rosaiah criticized Congress leaders who had said that they would boycott the program.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office premises, the former CM said Racchabanda aims to address long-pending problems being faced by people, and that leaders would be doing a disservice to the people by boycotting it.
Rosaiah's statement comes in the wake of a section of Congress leaders threatening to boycott Racchabanda, stating that the government address the demand of a separate Telangana state first.
Rosaiah said that through the program the government aims to take its welfare schemes to the doorsteps of people.
The program is also aimed at providing infrastructure facilities, the former chief minister pointed out.
"I don't know why some sections of leaders are boycotting the program," he stated, "the elected representatives should know that the program was aimed at addressing the problems of people."
Asking people to widely participate in the program, he appealed to them to come up with their grievances.
When asked about the raw deal that the state MPs got in the recent Cabinet expansion, the former chief minister refused to answer the question.
