Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Sunday, said that the government should extend legal assistance to former Excise minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Talking to media persons, the PCC president said that the government must consider options for extending legal aid to Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, who allegedly issued controversial GOs favouring Nimmagadda Prasad, the promoter of Vanpic.
His statement assumes importance in the wake of the state government's decision to extend legal assistance to defend 4 ministers - P Sabita Indra Reddy (Home), J Geeta Reddy (Major Industries), B Dharmana Prasada Rao (Panchayati Raj) and Kanna Lakshminarayana (Agriculture) - who were served notices by the Supreme Court in a case involving alleged illegal assets of Jaganmohan Reddy.
Botsa said that he would write a letter to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in this connection soon. (INN)
