Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that the KCR government would soon hold a high-level meeting to discuss the organisation of the famous festival of Bonalu in the state.
In a statement, Yadav said that it had been a tradition to hold the Golconda Bonalu, Secunderabad Bonalu and Lal Darwaza Bonalu celebrations every year in the state and that similar celebrations would be held this year as well.
"While we will celebrate Bonalu this year too, the functions will not be held on a very large scale. Our government has sanctioned Rs 15 crore for the celebration of the festival. A high-level review meeting will be held soon to discuss the steps to be taken to organise the same safely amidst the ongoing pandemic," he explained.
The minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had asked the concerned officials to observe the occasion in a grand way. He also revealed that the Golconda Bonalu function would be held on July 11, the Secunderabad function on July 25, and the Lal Darwaza function on August 1 respectively.
Bonalu is a well-loved Hindu festival celebrated in Telangana. It is held in honour of the Hindu goddess Mahakali in Ashada Masam, or around July and/or August.
