The annual Ashada Bonalu festival in the twin cities will begin on June 30 this year.
The festivities will begin with the presentation of a bonam to the goddess Jagadambika at the Golconda fort.
The Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu will be held on July 17 while Hyderabad Bonalu festival will be celebrated on July 24.
Bonalu is celebrated in different parts of the city on every Sunday of the Ashada month of the Telugu calendar.
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav along with MLA Kausar Mohiuddin held a meeting with officials concerned at the Golconda fort on Tuesday to monitor the preparations.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said that apart from to the goddess Jagadambika at the Golconda fort, silk sarees would also be presented to the goddesses of 26 temples on behalf of the State government across the twin cities, and that Rs 15 crore had already been sanctioned by the government for the celebrations.
Disclosing the elaborate arrangements for the festival at the Golconda fort, the minister said that CC cameras were being arranged at the fort, and that about 800 police personnel would be deployed in and around the fort. There would also be deployments of She-teams and Mufti police at key locations.
He added that eight parking lots had been identified for the devotees, and that traffic would be diverted at 14 locations on the day of the festival. 8.75 lakh water packets and 55,000 water bottles would be supplied to the devotees, five medical camps would be set up and four ambulance vehicles would be pressed into the service, Yadav added.
Given the gap of two years, the State government had decided to celebrate the festival in a grand manner this year, and officials had been asked to make arrangements appropriately, the minister said.
