The famous Golconda Ashadha Bonalu festival will begin on July 15 and culminate on August 12, according to Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Yadav made a visit to the Golconda fort on Saturday morning and held a coordination meeting with the relevant officials and the peace committee on the arrangements.
Talking to the media later, the minister said that the festival would be conducted on a grand scale and that a procession would be taken out from Langar House on July 15, and that a large number of devotees were expected on July 22 and 29.
He also said that in coordination with the archaeological department the festivities would be conducted in a pro-environment manner this year and that the officials were gearing up for that.
Yadav also instructed the officials concerned to take up road repairs and patch works, ensure adequate street lights, spruce up the fort with greenery, make arrangements for sanitation and for power and water supply, put up 550 LED bulbs, set up 3-D mapping screens and CC cameras for surveillance, and work on traffic regulation, barricades and parking arrangements.
