The Department of Civil Supplies has warned all bogus ration card holders to voluntarily surrender the ineligible cards to the respective Assistant Supply Officers or Tahsildars or to the District Supply Officers.
According to Civil Supplies Commissioner Sanjay Jaju, action will be taken by the government to prosecute defaulters possessing bogus or ineligible ration cards.
Jaju said that possession of ineligible or bogus ration cards by any person or dealer is an offence under the provisions of PDS Control Order issued under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and that offenders are liable to prosecution that includes imprisonment and fine.
