Responding to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's statement that he would consider supporting the BJP if the latter promises to give 10% reservation to Muslims all over the country, BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu clarified that Jaganmohan Reddy did not approach his party about any kind of alliance formation.
This statement made by the political leader put to rest the rumours regarding the alleged Jagan-BJP links.
Venkaiah Naidu stated that giving a 10% reservation to Muslims is against the beliefs of his party, as the BJP feels that granting reservations on the basis of religion would essentially further the religious divide in the country.
Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is the only one to be hit by this sequence of events, as the Congress and the TDP have turned the situation to their advantage by interpreting his statement as an indicator that he might not be a stauch supporter of Muslims after all.
