The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, on Thursday, reviewed the arrangements for the Telangana Poru Deekhsha proposed to be held in New Delhi on September 3-5.
Addressing a meeting of office bearers of Telangana districts, at the state BJP headquarters at Nampally, BJP state president G Kishan Reddy said that the Telangana Poru Deeksha was aimed at mounting pressure on the Centre over the formation of a Telangana State. He also discussed the strategy to be adopted for the successful conduct of the deeksha in the national capital.
Kishan Reddy said he hoped that the deeksha would "expose" the Congress' stand towards Telangana. He alleged that the ruling party has been cheating people on the statehood issue. Further, he said that the Lok Sabha MPs of the Congress from the region, too, have adopted dual standards and are cheating the people of the region.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, NDA convenor Sharad Yadav, former BJP president Rajnath Singh and BJP spokesperson Prakash Javedkar will participate in the 3-day Deeksha. Former deputy prime minister Lal Krishan Advani will attend the deeksha on the concluding day, on September 5. (INN)
