BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman handed over a letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at Tank Bund.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday adopted a novel method to demand the State government to convene a session of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly.
BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman handed over a letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at Tank Bund.
"The State of Telangana has been facing serious problems, which warrant the immediate intervention of the government. These include issues like the power crisis, farmer debt waiver, reimbursement of fees for students (SC, ST, BC, EBC and minority students), viral fevers, agitations by unemployed youth, constitution of TPSC and notification of jobs. In our day-to-day interactions with the people and in our tours of the districts, we have been receiving several representations from the people expressing their woes," he said in his letter.
"In a democratic polity, it is the responsibility of the legislature to address these issues and find solutions. However, the government is being non-chalant not only about addressing the issues, but even about convening the Assembly which is its constitutional responsibility. Further, the validity of the Vote On Account, which is an interim arrangement, will be over. Therefore, it is mandatory for the legislature to take appropriate measures to ensure the validity of the expenditure of the government, which includes the salaries of the employees and other welfare schemes," said the BJP leader.
Dr Lakshman said that he was "pleading with the Chief Minister through the father of the Indian constitution Dr B R Ambedkar to convene the Assembly budget session immediately."
BJP MLAs N V S S Prabhakar, Chintala Ramchander Reddy and Raja Singh, and MLC Dilip Kumar were also present. (INN)
