BJP Leaders For Telangana Bill

Police lathicharged BJP activists who were protesting at Jantar Mantar for Telangana bill in Parliament.
Hyderabad | 10th December 2010
The police on Thursday lathicharghed and used water cannons to disperse Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar, demanding introduction of separate Telangana bill in Parliament.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javedkar, BJP state unit president Kishen Reddy, senior leaders Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Bandaru Lakshman and B Dattatreya participated in the agitation.

Raising slogans against the centre, they demanded introduction of Telangana bill in Parliament immediately.

The BJP activists said that the government should stand by the announcement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on the formation of Telangana state on December 9th last year.

Police lathicharged when the BJP activists took a dharna from Jantar Mantar to Parliament Bhavan. When the activists continued dharna, the police used water cannons to disperse the crowds.

Kishen Reddy is believed to have sustained some minor injuries along with a few other activists during the lathi-charge.

He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he was given first aid and discharged.

Protesting the lathicharge on BJP activists, the party state unit has called for dharnas across Telangana districts on Friday.
