The Telangana BJP today demanded that the State government conduct the upcoming special Assembly session for at least 15 days in order to discuss the validity of and need for the Telangana-Maharashtra water agreement that was signed on August 25, and various other issues.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly's media hall, State BJP leader G Kishan Reddy said that since the Telangana government had ignored the Opposition's plea to take an all-Party delegation to Maharashtra before signing the agreement, it needed to take a lot more time to bring the Opposition on board with the agreement.
Reddy also alleged that the Telangana government had diverted the Centre's input subsidies on agriculture to other developmental projects, something it would bring up in the upcoming session along with several other issues.
"The BJP will try to raise the issues related to forcible land acquisition, the redesigning of irrigation projects, the lapses in Mission Bhagiratha and its tenders' allocation, the misuse of the funds meant for Mission Kakatiya, the delay in the implementation of the double-bedroom house scheme, the problems in the education sector, the politicization of the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in government universities, the arrests of Mallanna Sagar protestors, the EAMCET paper leakage, the irregularities in engineering college admissions, and several others," he said.
For those who came in late, the special session is being held in order to pass the GST Bill which was recently approved in the Rajya Sabha.
