Alleging that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had misled the Legislative Assembly, the BJP served a privilege notice against the Chief Minister.
BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy handed over the notice to the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.
In the letter, Reddy mentioned that the Chief Minister had on March 17 misled the house stating that the state government was going to spend its own funds for the scheme of distribution of sheep to the Yadava and Kuruma people, and that the Centre was not giving any sort of subsidy to the state for this.
But the government published in the budget demands that the Centre was giving a Rs 1,000-crore grant to the Animal Husbandry department, he said.
That was the reason that the Chief Minister's statement attracted a privilege notice, he said, and asked the Speaker to initiate action against the Chief Minister.
The backstory: While participating in the debate on the budget on March 15, BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy had stated in the Assembly that the State was getting Central loan and subsidy for the scheme of distribution of sheep to the Yadavas and Kurumas from the NCDP. But on March 17 the Chief Minister claimed in the Assembly that the state government was not taking a single paisa for the sheep distribution scheme from the Centre. But the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Industry department, in its outcome of budget demand, mentioned that the NCDC was giving a Rs 3,000-crore loan and a Rs 1000-crore grant.
