Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today condemned the house-arrests of several party leaders in Jangaon district on the eve of CM K Chandrashekar Rao's visit.
Kumar condemned the house-arrests of BJP MLA and floor leader in the Assembly Raja Singh, and MLAs Eatala Rajender and Raghunandan Rao, who were detained while going to visit the houses of activists injured in attacks by TRS goons.
He added that the police had been harassing other leaders and workers of the party in the district too by keeping them in different police stations of Jangaon, and asked if the opposition leaders and workers should now be scared of getting arrested whenever the CM came out of his farmhouse to undertake an official visit.
He said that the people of the state used to feel happy whenever the CM of the state planned a visit to their area as it would solve their problems, but that the people of Telangana were now scared of the visits of KCR.
Kumar also asked the state police why they were arresting the BJP's leaders ahead of the CM's visit to different districts.
He said that in the past the state's police had a good name throughout the country. But after KCR came to power the reputation of the state's police was completely tarnished, he claimed. Some police officials were behaving like TRS activists, and some of them had stooped so low that they were even carrying TRS flags in their police jeeps, he lamented.
"There is however no question of the BJP leaders getting cowed down by these illegal arrests and attacks. KCR should remember that the BJP leaders had braved the attacks of the Maoists," he said.
Kumar demanded that all the arrested BJP workers be released unconditionally and that action be taken against those who assaulted them.
"Otherwise the government and the police will be held responsible for the repercussions," he warned.
