Senior BJP leader and former Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday assured distressed farmers in AP that the BJP would give them interest-free loans if voted to power.
Addressing a gathering of farmers at Pedapudi near Amalapuram in East Godavari district, Rajnath Singh slammed the state government for its failure to provide relief measures to farmers, who had declared a crop holiday to highlight the government's failure in giving remunerative prices for their crop produce.
Rajnath Singh said that the BJP government would raise the issue of farmers' problems in the Parliament and would fight for their cause.
"The BJP will fight for the farmers' cause until they receive due justice from the government," he stated.
He said that if the BJP government is voted to power at the Centre, farmers would be given interest free loans.
Earlier, Rajnath Singh took out a padayatra from Ainavali to Pothukuru, and personally contacted farmers to talk to them about their problems. BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy and other district leaders accompanied him. (INN)
