Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy, on Tuesday, charged Congress leaders who want to rename the Lalitha Kala Thoranam after Rajiv Gandhi, with an intention to seek the blessings of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to media persons after inspecting irrigation projects in Warangal district, the BJP leader took strong objection to the renaming of the Thoranam, and said that the move has hurt the sentiments of Telugu people.
Kishen Reddy alleged that Congress leaders, who never followed the schemes and programs launched during the tenure of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, are now renaming all government buildings and projects with his name in order to get political mileage.
Demanding that the government withdraw its Order issued in this connection, the BJP leader said that the decision has not been welcomed by any section of the society.
Reacting to the Income Tax department raids on Gali Brothers and his relatives in Karnataka, he said the Central government was resorting to witch-hunting against BJP leaders after failing to deal with them politically.
Kishen Reddy challenged the government to conduct income tax raids on Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda's houses, as, he said, the two leaders have amassed wealth through illegal methods.
He said the Congress, which has looted thousands of crores of rupees though various corrupt methods during the construction of irrigation projects, has no moral right to question BJP leaders' sincerity.
