Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today alleged that BJP leaders were more dangerous than the British, and called for a united effort to oust the party under Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
"Just as the British were driven out of India, the BJP too needs to be removed from our nation, and we must all work together towards that. Everyone must be prepared to stand up against Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Reddy said, addressing the extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Ahmedabad.
He vowed to defeat the BJP in Telangana with renewed determination, and urged Congress workers and Gandhi supporters to take up the responsibility of resisting the saffron party.
The CM accused Modi of spreading Nathuram Godse's ideology across the country, and urged citizens to reject the latter's dangerous narrative.
Reddy also recalled Modi's 2014 promise of creating two crore jobs annually, and said, "It's been 11 years. By now, the Centre should have generated over 20 crore jobs. Instead, Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have pushed two crore youth into unemployment every year."
Speaking of the Congress government's work in Telangana, he claimed that the government had delivered on Rahul Gandhi's promises by waiving Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans, benefiting 25 lakh farmers in just 10 months. He also pointed to the caste census as another fulfilled commitment.
Reddy added that while it had formed the government in the State only recently, the Congress had in fact been contributing to Telangana from several decades. He claimed that the region was freed from the Nizam rule in the late 1940s due to the efforts of Congress leaders Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. "This shared history has created a deep bond between the people of Telangana and Gujarat. It was Patel who played a key role in liberating Telangana. And continuing the Congress' fight for the people of the region, it was Sonia Gandhi who later granted it Statehood," he said.
"Standing in Gujarat, I make this commitment: we will not allow the BJP to gain ground in Telangana. Guided by Sonia Gandhi's leadership, we will oppose them at every step. Their actions will not be forgiven," he thundered in conclusion.
