The two kilometer long Tank Bund adjoining the Hussain Sagar lake was resplendent today with artistes and common people who thronged it on the occasion of the conclusion of the Telangana formation day celebrations.
A scintillating laser show and the illumination of the Sagar stretch, Lumbini Park, NTR Marg and Necklace Road marked the culmination of widespread festivities for six days.
Elaborate arrangements were made for the event attended by Governor E S L Narasimhan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and the highlight of the occasion was the aforementioned laser show which depicted the culture of Telangana.
All kinds of people joined in the celebrations in various ways. Several women and girls were seen carrying Bonalu and Bathukammas. Gaddar's famous number "Podustunna Poddu Meeda..." galvanized women workers of the GHMC to shake their legs and dance. A bunch of boisterous rallies from adjoining thoroughfares merged into the event adding color and vivacity to it. Sanskrithika Sarathi led teams portraying a variety of art forms. And many college girls added to the delightful raucousness by shouting "Jai Telangana" slogans.
And all through, Andesri's noted "Jaya Jaya He Telangana" was on auto-loop in the background.
In all, the audiences who gathered in large numbers were enthralled as all the artistes gave their best to mark the occasion and the crowds' raw enthusiasm provided the multiplier effect. (NSS)
