The march was taken up from the Ambedkar statue to the Vivekananda statue along the Hussain Sagar lake by hundreds of women from various organizations and institutions. Union Minister and organizer of the march Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan Vice Chairman Perala Chandrashekar Rao, BJP city unit president B Venkat Reddy, retired IAS officer Nirmala Gonela and others also joined in and paid homage to the B R Ambedkar statue.
On the occasion, Dattatreya reminded the participants of two of the Centre's women upliftment schemes - Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao. Referring to women's upliftment, he praised the Indian Olympic contigent's sportswomen and said, "P V Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar displayed impressive feats of courage and determination when all seemed lost. This proves that given the opportunity, women, too, can achieve wonders."
At the end of the march, the union minister congratulated the organizers for carrying out a "successful" rally and inspiring the people of Telangana and the nation.
