Telangana BJP head and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar today took part in the Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that he had prayed for the welfare of the people of the state and for the wellbeing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was ruling India in an "effective and able manner".
Kumar also stated that he was happy to see that scores of devotees had taken part in the festivities as it was an important tradition to present bonams to the deity Mahankali every year. He added that women who carried the traditional bonams were the "real legal heirs" of the culture of Telangana.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the leader alleged that the CM "slept at his farmhouse most of the time" and returned to the state capital, Hyderabad, only to "lie" to the people. He accused the CM of misleading the public by promising to solve their problems and then not keeping his word.
"The CM had promised to distribute Rs 10,000 as compensation for last year's floods. He even gave the money to a couple of flood-affected families. But, after the GHMC elections, he forgot all about his assurance," the firebrand MP fumed.
Talking about another issue, he demanded that KCR "come to the rescue" of the priests of the temples in the rural pockets of the state, and said that the BJP would fight for the rights of the priests of the village temples if the TRS regime did not take any steps to address their issues.
