The BJP has finally appointed a new president for its Telangana unit, after a long exercise.
BJP national General Secretary Arun Singh announced today that the party's national president J P Nadda had appointed senior leader and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the Telangana unit president with immediate effect.
Kumar will be replacing incumbent Dr K Laxman, who sought a renewal in vain. There were several other contenders too for the post, and the party's national leadership picked Kumar given his reputation for being a firebrand.
Kumar has a following among the youth, and the support and blessings of the BJP national leadership and the RSS.
Other leaders who tried for the post are former minister D K Aruna, Ch Ramachandra Reddy, Ramchander Rao and MP D Arvind.
