A pall of gloom descended on the residence of former union minister and senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya following the death of his only son, 21-year-old Bandaru Vaishnav, from a massive heart attack on Tuesday night.
Vaishnav, who was a third year medical student, suddenly complained of chest pain at the family's Ramnagar residence when having dinner with his family. He was immediately rushed to Care Hospital at Musheerabad where he breathed his last late in the night while undergoing treatment.
The reason is suspected to be a strict diet that the young man was following.
Vaishnav's body was brought to his residence where a large number of friends, relatives and well-wishers came in to pay their last tributes.
The sad news shocked Dattatreya, who is reported to be inconsolable. Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu called Dattatreya and expressed his grief. Governor E S L Narasimhan, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, BJP state president Dr K Laxman, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, TJS founder-president Kondandaram, and many BJP leaders and workers visited and consoled Dattatreya.
AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, too, expressed his grief and shock over the sudden death of Vaishnav.
